American Psycho (2000)

American Psycho is a American film directed by Mary Harron. The story is based on the eponymous book by Bret Easton Ellis. Patrick Bateman is attractive, intelligent, and above all, wealthy. He appears to be a normal man. Nothing could be further from the truth: at night, he murders random, innocent people without any apparent reason. Because the urban yuppie environment around Bateman seems uninterested in others, he is able to continue with his double life, and his not-so-subtle psychological problems go unnoticed. The coldness and efficiency with which he carries out his actions, combined with the superficiality of Bateman's emotions and his surroundings, create a surprisingly comedic effect.
