Let’s Talk Money: The Waterworks of Our Money in the spotlight

The exhibition Let's Talk Money focuses on the work of cartographer Carlijn Kingma. Together with financial economists Thomas Bollen and professor Martijn van der Linden, she explores how our monetary system works—an important but often misunderstood topic. In her piece The Waterworks of Our Money, Carlijn Kingma compares money to water, offering a fresh perspective on the financial world and issues like inequality and crises. Her detailed illustrations make the monetary system easier to understand and invite discussion on how things could change.

After an introduction and viewing of the exhibition, you can choose between two options:

  1. The Social Impact of Money
Dive deeper with professor Martijn van der Linden into how money flows contribute to inequality and sustainability challenges. You’ll explore three future scenarios in an interactive session.
  2. Guided Tour with Art Lovers
Or, join a guided tour of Depot Boijmans van Beuningen. Discover remarkable artworks and learn more about the history and context of the collection.
