Main campus – Johanna Westerdijkplein 75
Are you interested in learning more about cybersecurity and risk management? Join us on Thursday, November 14th, for the inaugural lecture of Peter Roelofsma, titled ‘Cascade Cyber Risk Management - Between Rule and Reality.’ Since August 2023, Peter has been the Professor of Risk Management & Cyber Security at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. We warmly invite you to attend this lecture to deepen your knowledge and expand your network. Sign up now!
What can you expect?
Modern digital networks are becoming increasingly complex and interconnected. This results in a rise in cyber risks: a security issue in one system can quickly spread to other systems, leading to widespread disruptions and what we call a domino effect. These cascade cyber risks pose a significant threat to our economy and society. During his inaugural lecture, Peter Roelofsma will share his expertise in this area. He will discuss the risks and address the gap between theoretical guidelines (rules) and practical applications (reality). Topics will include the living lab method and the potential of artificial intelligence. Roelofsma will also highlight the focus and future plans of his research group and elaborate on how he collaborates with colleagues, students, and the industry to contribute to a cyber-resilient society.
In addition to the inaugural lecture, you can look forward to contributions from Rutger Leukfeldt, director of The Centre of Expertise Cyber Security and Paul Timmers, research associate at the University of Oxford.

About the research group
The Risk Management & Cyber Security research group investigates what effective cyber risk management looks like and what risk models and tools are needed. The focus is on decision-making processes, governance of cyber risk management, and how organizations can prevent and mitigate cyber risks. Researchers also analyze how organizations can respond to cyber risks and investigate measures to limit damage and service disruptions due to cyberattacks. The group also examines the role and significance of public-private partnerships in cybersecurity, the impact of cyberattacks on organizations, and the role of governments and regulators in enhancing organizational cyber resilience.
The Centre of Expertise Cyber Security
The Risk Management & Cyber Security group is part of the Centre of Expertise Cyber Security of The Hague University of Applied Sciences. The mission of the Centre of Expertise is to strengthen the cyber resilience of public and private organizations that are less equipped to handle cyber threats.
