Wear purple!
Friday, December 13, is dedicated to Purple Friday! On this day, we wear purple to show that everyone, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, is welcome at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. More and more colleges and universities are participating in this day because it is essential for both students and staff to have the space to explore and express their gender identity, expression, and sexuality in a safe environment. In addition to wearing purple clothing, activities will be organized that focus on gender and sexuality.
Programme
Everyone is warmly invited at the meeting place in the Atrium between 11:00 and 15:00. The Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) of The Hague University of Applied Sciences will be present for a meet and greet, along with the BO-Diversity volunteers and their WHIP bus, and a cozy seating area will be set up where you can chat with others over coffee, tea, and a purple treat. Show your solidarity by picking up a cool themed sticker or button and leave your wish on our interactive wall. Finally, the day will conclude with a very fitting film: Pride. Everyone is welcome, and no registration is required!
WHIP BUS & Short film: Taboe Tabee – Queer Moslims
11:00 - 15:00 | Main entrance and Atrium
BO-Diversity will be at the main entrance with the WHIP bus, the place to engage in playful and relaxed conversations about sexuality, gender, and intimacy. In addition to the bus, there will be a cozy meeting spot in the atrium where you can participate in a quiz, visit a mini-museum, and watch the short film Taboe Tabee – Queer Moslims on a loop. In this film, queer Muslims share their stories about the challenges they face regarding their ethnicity, faith, and sexual orientation. If you want to talk more after watching the film or have any questions, feel free to stop by and chat with the BO-Diversity volunteers in the atrium.
Queer Film Festival: Pride
16:30 – 18:30 | Speakers’ Corner
The final film of the Queer Film Festival will be screened, where students and staff can watch the film Pride and participate in discussions about queer representation in the media. Pride is a comedy-drama based on the true story of lesbian and gay activists who raised money for families affected during the British miners' strike of 1984. More information
