Little Women is a 2019 American period drama directed by Greta Gerwig, based on the 1868 novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott.
At the 92nd Academy Awards in 2020, this film received six nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress (Ronan), Best Supporting Actress (Pugh), Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Score. The film won the Oscar for Best Costume Design.
Set in 1860s Massachusetts, the story follows the four sisters—Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth—as they grow up under the care of their mother, Marmee, during the American Civil War. As the story progresses, each of the sisters finds her own path in society and discovers love.
