Urban Social Development

Katja's work centers on the themes of social mobility, citizenship, (labor) migration, the urban labor market, education and new forms of housing for seniors. In addition, she is currently conducting research into the social impact of COVID-19 in The Hague.

dr. Ibtissam Abaaziz

Senior Researcher

Centre of Expertise Governance of Urban Transitions

Ibtissam works as a researcher and is involved in a collaboration concerning prenatal home visits. She also studies women's groups in The Hague and conducts exploratory research on children of European labor migrants.

She does research for the research groups Urban Social Development and Public Governance.

Milou Andriessen MSc

Junior Researcher

Urban Social Development

Milou has a background in Criminology and works as a researcher at the Urban Development Research Group. She is also affiliated with the Cybercrime & Cybersecurity Research Group. Her research focuses on the (digitalizing) world of young people and the collaboration with relevant stakeholders within this context. In addition to her research, Milou is a lecturer in the Integrated Safety & Security Studies (IVK) program.

Stephan van Berkel MSc

Stephan works as a teacher at the Spatial Development course, where he focuses on urban planning. He is also a researcher with the Research Group Urban Social Development. Stephan's research is related to the liveability of the city.

Anita Ham

Lecturer-Researcher

Urban Social Development

Anita conducts mixed-methods participatory action research, in collaboration with the municipality of The Hague. The focus is on the position of Ukrainians and labor migrants from Central and Eastern Europe in The Hague. The results serve as valuable input for both organizational and policy purposes.

She is affiliated with two Research groups: Urban Social Development and Relational Care.

Bernell Herder MSc

Bernell is an urban planner and conducts research on the built and social environment. In addition, Bernell is coordinator of the Platform Stad en Wijk, a collaboration of various research groups.

Stefanie's research focuses on the themes of migration and participation. She is a sociologist and previously worked on these themes for the government and in her company De Luisteracademie. Stefanie manages multiple projects within the Research Group Urban Social Development.
