Knowledge Security
In education and research, we like to cooperate with organizations abroad. This brings many opportunities, but sometimes also risks.
Knowledge security primarily involves:
- Preventing the undesirable transfer of sensitive knowledge and technology, which could negatively impact national security.
- Guarding against covert influence on higher education and research by state actors, which can lead to forms of (self-)censorship and compromise academic freedom.
- Addressing ethical issues that may arise from collaborations with individuals and institutions from countries where fundamental rights are not respected.
The Hague University of Applied Sciences has a decision tree for knowledge security. Employees can use this decision tree to decide whether collaboration with a foreign organisation or individual is allowed and/or desirable. The decision tree can be found on the Employee Portal.
